Tears of the Kingdom could be the last major release for Switch
With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom due out in a few months, there is still a lot of excitement waiting for Switch owners, however, it looks like this could be the last major game Nintendo releases on Switch.
Journalist Andy Robinson took to Twitter and relayed a detail he recently obtained that there have been no major releases for Switch after a Zelda game for a while.
Interestingly, this could be due to the focus shifting internally to the Switch’s successor, as Nintendo will likely start talking about its new platform “by 2024”.
Tears of the Kingdom isn’t the only first-party game Nintendo is working on for the Nintendo Switch, especially with the likes of Pikmin 4 and Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe also in the works, but it’s worth noting. The Japanese giant hasn’t announced any major Zelda-scale projects in a while.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom an E10+ with reference to “fantasy violence” and “mildly suggestive themes”. Display it on the game’s online store page.
We don’t know much about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but Nintendo has previously confirmed that it will be available exclusively on Switch on May 12, 2023.
