Star Wars movie secret loses writers Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson

A new report from Deadline Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof will no longer star in a yet-to-be-announced new Star Wars film from Sharmaine Obaid-Shinway.

The report revealed that both Lindelof and co-creator Justin Brett Gibson had left the project, but that Charmaine Obaid-Shinway would still direct the film. Deadline’s sources also say that more details about the project are set to be revealed at the Star Wars Celebration next month, and it still could be one of the next Star Wars movies to hit theaters. Details of why the authors left were not shared.

We first heard about the movie back in October, when reports emerged that Lindelof and Brett Gibson were working on a standalone Star Wars movie that could lead to additional movies if it’s successful. It has been reported that the film’s events could take place after The Rise of Skywalker, which is currently the end of the timeline across the series’ films and series.

There hasn’t been a Star Wars movie since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, and instead the franchise has focused on Disney+ series, including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, and more.
