Neil Druckmann says Naughty Dog has picked out its next game but hasn’t confirmed The Last of Us Part 3
Neil Druckmann has confirmed that Naughty Dog has chosen what its next game will be. But he did not reveal if it was The Last of Us Part 3 or a completely different title.
Where he said in one of the episodes of the program Kinda funny spoilercast: “I know the fans want The Last of Us Part 3, I hear that all the time. All I can say is we’re already on our next project, and the decision has already been made. I can’t say what it is, but that’s the process we’ve been through. There were a lot of different things to think about, and we picked the one we were most excited about.”
He added, “At the end of each project, we purposefully explore several different projects. Some might be a sequel, then a bunch of new ideas. Then we put our focus where our passion lies.”
Druckmann also confirmed that The Last of Us multiplayer game is the next release from Naughty Dog and that more information about it will be shared later this year.
It’s likely that Naughty Dog’s next project will not be related to the Uncharted series, as Druckmann stated that the studio is done with the series. Although he did not go as far as confirming whether the game was The Last of Us Part 3, in 2021 he said that he wrote pen heads for another game story from The Last of Us, but he made it clear that the studio is not currently working on it.
For now, fans can look forward to the next multiplayer game, as well as the release of The Last of Us Part 1 on PC on March 28th.
