Modern Warfare 2 brings back Hardcore mode with the launch of Season 2
Infinity Ward will bring back Hardcore mode in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, prompting excitement and some rumblings from the community that has been calling for more support for the popular shooter for a while.
The news was revealed in a tweet confirming Hardcore’s return and also encouraging gamers to follow the studio’s blog for additional updates. As the name suggests, Hardcore mode is for Call of Duty players who want more realism, removing the HUD menu and making bullets deadlier. It’s been a staple of Call of Duty since the original 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but was absent from last year’s Modern Warfare 2 launch.
No HUD? No problem. Hardcore is back!

The new game mode will be part of larger Season 2 updates for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0, both of which have been delayed by nearly two weeks in response to player feedback. We’ll see a bunch of updates for both games, with Modern Warfare 2 set to get more maps, new weapons, and ranked play.
The second season is expected to be released on February 15th. Studio Infinity Ward said it will reveal more information later this week.
