Fires of Rubicon at the Taipei Game Show event

It’s been a while since we got new details for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, and FromSoftware looks set to reveal new information early next month.

Yasunori Ogura, Producer of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon and the FromSoftware team, will be at the annual Taipei Game Show to reveal new information about the project, and possibly reveal another trailer or an unexpected surprise.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be a reimagining of the Japanese studio’s long-dormant series, but director Masaru Yamamura — best known for his work as lead designer on Sekiro — promises that the true inspiration behind the studio’s Souls games will be evident in the new game.

“Boss battles are the highlight of the game in this title,” Yamamura told IGN in a statement. The core of the battles, where the player reads the enemy’s movements and then deals with them as usual in FromSoftware games. In this title, both the enemy and your special mech are aggressive and violent in their attacks, we are developing the game so that players can enjoy the dynamic and intense boss battles that cannot be Only the mecha can offer it, along with the unique aspects of the game, such as how to put together the right parts to take on the toughest enemies.”

Despite these massive boss battles, FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki explained in an exclusive interview with IGN that the studio “hasn’t made an effort to try to direct [Armored Core VI] Towards Soulsborne-style gameplay.” In other words: Don’t expect Armored Core to be just a sci-fi game based entirely on the mechanics of the Souls games.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon was announced at The Game Awards 2022 and will release in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
