Channing Tatum wants to make a remake of Ghost starring him

Channing Tatum has revealed he’s trying to make a remake of the classic Ghost movie with his starring role as Patrick Swayze in the original movie.

Where the star said in his interview with Vanity Fair that his production company Free Association had bought the rights to the 1990 classic and that he was interested in making a remake. But he admitted he would have to make changes because the original film contained some problematic stereotypes.

He said, “We have the movie rights to Ghost. But we’re going to do something different. I think it needs to change up a bit.”

Tatum will likely star as Sam Witt, a banker who is killed during a brutal robbery on the street. But instead of ascending directly to heaven, he wanders around as a ghost, observing his wife and communicating with her through a medium.

The story had worldwide appeal as the film ended up grossing $505 million at the global box office against a $22-23 million budget. It thus became the highest-grossing film of 1990 and the third-highest-grossing film in history at the time of its release.
