In a new report from BloombergActivision has reportedly adjusted plans for the annual Call of Duty release schedule by moving away from the planned expansion for Modern Warfare, and now reports indicate that it will be heading towards another full game set in the modern era, to be developed by Sledgehammer Games.

Although there are no official details yet, the Bloomberg report stated that the game will focus on completing the journey and systems of Modern Warfare 2, but it will not be Modern Warfare 3, and the title is being worked on by Sledgehammer Games, with support from other Activision studios, including Infinity Ward and treyarch.

The original plan for COD 2023 was to sustain the growth of Modern Warfare 2, which is now the fastest-selling and fastest-growing game to reach $1 billion in the history of the series. Per a Bloomberg report, this shift caused concerns for the development team at the developer studio. However, sources said. It is unknown that Activision is putting significant resources into the new game to ensure it will be released in 2023.

With increasing reports about the development of COD 2023, and Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, this year is likely to witness major changes in the course of the most popular shooting game series on the scene.
