Actor Hugh Jackman never took steroids to build muscle for Wolverine due to ‘side effects’

X-Men star Hugh Jackman has confirmed that he did not use the steroid for the role of Wolverine.

during his interview with CNNThe famous star, who is set to return in Deadpool 3, revealed that he only got his muscular physique the old-fashioned way.

“I love my job, and I love Wolverine,” he said. “I have to be careful with what I say here, but I’ve been told anecdotally what the side effects are, and I didn’t like it very much. So no, I’m going to do it the old-fashioned way.”

Jackman ate protein in large quantities to help increase muscle mass, joked that he’s eaten his fair share of chicken over the years and apologized to vegans everywhere. And it looks like he’s going through all of that again for Deadpool 3.

He explained: “I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned it takes time. We’ve got six months from when I finish. [The Music Man] time to start shooting. And I don’t do any other work. I will be with my family and train. This will be my job for six months. I am in decent physical condition now. Doing eight shows a week on Broadway singing and dancing helps, and I’m in decent physical shape. IM in good health. I’ll start from a good place.”

Jackman is currently starring in the hit musical The Music Man on Broadway, which requires a completely different regimen compared to his superhero workouts. However he seems to be starting from a good place, and seems confident that it won’t take much to get his muscular body back for Wolverine.

“This story takes place before the events of Logan,” he confirmed of Deadpool 3. “I really thought I was done. I was at peace with it. Every day I was asked either in interviews or Ryan Reynolds calls to me ‘Can we do this again?’, and I would answer : ‘No, I’m done.’ But my wife said, ‘After this, what do you really want to do?’. And I was driving the next day. And the answer came to me like this. Because when I keep thinking of me and Ryan, in Deadpool and Wolverine, who are rivals They’re both classics in the comics, there’s also a dynamic between them that I’ve never had a chance to experience as Wolverine and I think this is going to be fun, something I’ve never done before. I can’t wait.”
