Disney+ show willow Showrunner Jon Kasdan has dismissed reports claiming the fantasy show has been cancelled.
Contrary to reports, the 43-year-old took to Twitter to clarify that the show was not going to continue, but season 2 is still in the planning stages.
“I’m pretty confident that, if asked, neither I nor the folks at Lucasfilm would or would have actually characterized [Willow as being cancelled],” he added.
The filmmaker continued, “The rumored cancellation may instead stem from a decision being made to free up her main cast for other opportunities, Kasdan explained. What has been confirmed within Lucasfilm is that Willow will not will not resume filming in the next 12 months.”
“That doesn’t mean it won’t in the sequel.” With enthusiastic and unwavering support from Lucasfilm and Disney, we’ve developed and written what we hope will be a fun, richer, darker Volume 2 and better, which builds on the characters and story of our first eight chapters,” Kasdan added.
“Volume 2 is about courage, desire, acceptance, the comedy and the beauty that can be found even in the darkest places and times. These are the enemies we must inevitably face, both from the outside and, often much more insidiously, from the inside, but above all it is about the ineffable and lasting magic of friendship.
I am confident that I speak for everyone involved when I say that we would all love nothing more than to deliver Volume 2 on the scale expected and demanded by the story we tell,” Kasdan said. .“Are we going into pre-production? Not immediately. Does that mean we’ll never get there? Absolutely not,” Kasdan added.
