Willem Dafoe Is Set To Return As Green Goblin In Upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ Movie
Willem Dafoe is set to reprise his role as Green Goblin, fan-favorite Spider-Man villain.
THE Inside actor, 67, said in an interview with Reverse that he would consider returning to play the iconic villain but only under certain circumstances, via People’s Magazine.
“If everything went well, of course. I mean, it’s a great role. I liked that it was a dual role both times,” he said, referring to the duality of portraying both Norman Osborn and his crazed alter ego, the Green Goblin.
“Twenty years ago, and quite recently, both times [were] very different experiences, but I had a great time on both,” he added.
Dafoe first gained popularity in Sam Raimi Spider Man in 2002 and made another appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Coming Hometwo decades later in 2022.
In an interview with Varietythe actor shared the show where he was approached to reprise his memorable role despite his character’s death in 2002 Spider Man.
“It’s always a bit difficult when you die in a movie to come back in sequels,” he said. “I thought I was done. When they first said, ‘Do you want to take over this role?’ this subject.
He shared that he enjoyed the experience. “I can say, and I may have drank the Kool-Aid, but these are people who really believe in what they do and are dedicated to it.”
He continued, “I’m not just talking about really good actors. I’m talking about the effects people, the camera department – they’re all top notch. And then, when you have the resources and the opportunity to make a popular film, it’s quite attractive.
