Vanessa Hudgens wants ‘peace’ after meeting ex Austin Butler at Oscars party
Vanessa Hudgens pulls a page out of Malala Yousafzai’s book after having an awkward encounter with her ex-boyfriend Austin Butler.
THE musical high school alum, 34, posted an Instagram Story video of Jimmy Kimmel speaking to Yousafzai at the awards show.
In the clip, the Oscars host, 55, asked the 25-year-old activist for her take on Harry Styles and Chris Pine’s ‘Spitgate’ – only to have Yousafzai say she ‘only talks[s] on peace.
She captioned this clip in her story: “Let’s all get on the ‘I only talk about peace’ train,” she wrote. “ALL RIGHT?”
The former couple, who dated from 2011 to 2020, crossed paths at Vanity Fair’s Oscars after-party on Sunday, March 12, 2023, with Hudgens giving Butler a quick glance before looking down at his phone and quickly walking past him.
Butler stood next to Sharon Stone while waiting for a car outside the posh event in Beverly Hills, Calif. For his part, he seemed to glance at her once she passed. But in reality, he was talking to someone else.
It’s unclear whether Hudgens and Butler spoke during the party as he attended the party with his new girlfriend, Kaia Gerber.
Hudgens has also moved on as she is engaged to Cole Tucker.
Butler spoke cryptically about their past relationship in May 2022, recounting QG that he was looking for a partner with “similar fundamentals” and who wanted “the same things” as him.
During awards season, the 31-year-old actor was called out for not properly acknowledging Hudgens for helping him land the role.
However, he later admitted Los Angeles Times that he owed his price Elvis role to his ex. “She had that kind of moment of foresight and so I really owe her, I owe her a lot for believing in me,” he said.
