Tom Hanks reveals a karate kick landed him the role in Splash
Tom Hanks has revealed how he was cast in his 1984 film Splash in a recent interview and revealed that a karate kick while appearing on the show Happy Days landed him a role in the film, as reported FoxNews.
Tom said: “I kicked Fonzie. And I think I’m legendarily the first guy to actually kick Fonzie. I kicked him through the stained glass window in the Drive-in. Al. Ron Howard had already left the show, and he was directing, and they had written this movie called ‘Splash.’ And it was at Disney, and nobody wanted to work for Disney, and nobody was going to take the job.”
He added: “And finally they were like, ‘Hey, that guy who kicked Fonzie through glass might be good.’ And so I ended up auditioning for it.”
Splash starred Hannah, Eugene Levy and John Candy alongside Tom Hanks and proved to be a massive hit that helped skyrocket Tom’s career.
