Stars sport shimmering and daring looks on Oscars ‘champagne’ red carpet

Hollywood stars arrived at the Oscars on Sunday in shimmering column dresses, jewel-toned dresses and structured, voluminous garments, displaying bold choices that stood out on the new champagne-colored carpet set up under a tent.

Best Supporting Actress, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ nominee Angela Bassett opted for a shiny purple dress with structural frills at the top and bottom of the dress.

The other nominee in this category, Stephanie Hsu of “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, chose a strapless fuchsia Valentino dress with a wide skirt.

Cate Blanchett, nominated for Best Actress for “Tar,” wore an azure top draped over a black skirt with a train.

Oscar organizers were keen to recreate nighttime glamor in the tent – unlike the traditional outdoor red carpet.

Several attendees took advantage of the interior lights to don shimmering silver dresses or dresses encrusted with reflective materials.

Ana de Armas, nominated for Best Actress for “Blonde,” wore a silver column dress with a flamenco dancer’s flounce at the bottom.

Best Actress nominee Michelle Yeoh of ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ wore sparkling silver in her hair and a feathery white Dior dress.

Education activist Malala Yousafzai, executive producer of the documentary short ‘Stranger At The Gate’, wore a shimmering silver hooded dress.

Ariana DeBose donned a shimmering ivory Versace dress, low-cut front with sheer sleeves encrusted with shiny pearls.

Some of the men strayed from the safe choice of a black tuxedo.

Musician Lenny Kravitz wore a draped black outfit, also cut low in the front, and sported a giant cross that hung across his chest.

Another musician, David Byrne, nominated for best song for “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, wore a head-to-toe white suit.

“Women Talking” director and screenwriter Sarah Polley opted for a black tuxedo-like suit with a ruffled white blouse rather than a dress.

Several women opted for dresses with high slits, including Nicole Kidman in a sparkly black dress and Cara Delevingne in a dramatic red dress.
