Prince Harry’s pals warned him not to ‘sue’ the media while ‘rising high in the press’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been put off by their friends over their decision to sue media giants for defamation.
Writing in his memoir ‘Spare’, the Duke of Sussex reveals his friends told him not to take rash action against powerful voices.
He writes: “In fact, it was barely covered. Nevertheless, friends took note. Many have texted: why now? Simple. Within days, privacy laws in Britain would change in favor of the tabloids. We wanted our cause heard before a twisted bat was introduced into the game.”
Harry adds: “Friends have also asked, why sue when you’re so high in the press? The tour in South Africa was a triumph, the coverage was overwhelmingly positive. That’s the whole point, I explained. It’s not about wanting or needing good press. It’s about not letting people get away with abuse. And lies. Especially the kind of lies that can destroy innocent people.
