Omar Epps joins Netflix limited series ‘The Perfect Couple’
House star Omar Epps (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) has struck a deal to join the star-studded ensemble for the Netflix limited series The perfect couple.
The series is based on the New York Times bestseller by Elin Hilderbrand.
Epps will play police chief Dan Carter in the six-episode murder mystery drama. Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Meghann Fahy, Dakota Fanning, Eve Hewson and Jack Reynor are also on the show.
The perfect couple follows Amelia Sacks, who is about to marry into one of Nantucket’s wealthiest families. Her disapproving future mother-in-law, famed novelist Greer Garrison Winbury, spared no expense planning what promises to be the first wedding of the season – until a body ends up on the beach. As secrets are revealed, the stage is set for a real-life investigation that seems pulled from the pages of one of Greer’s novels. Suddenly everyone is suspicious.
21 Laps developed the show as part of their overall deal with Netflix and will produce alongside The Jackal Group. It’s created by showrunner Jenna Lamia, who will executive produce alongside 21 Towers’ Shawn Levy and Josh Barry, The Jackal Group’s Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady, Kidman and Per Saari for Blossom Films, Hilderbrand and director Susanne Bier.
Omar Epps has received nine NAACP Image Awards, two Teen Choice Awards, an MTV Movie Award, a Black Reel Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Epps’ film roles include Juice, Higher Education, The Wood, In Too Deep and Love & Basketball. He also worked on the medical drama series ER, in Resurrectionas Dr. Eric Foreman in the Fox medical drama series Accommodation from 2004 to 2012, and Isaac Johnson in the television series Shooter.
