Netflix’s ‘You’ Star Penn Badgley Thinks Season 5 ‘Will Be A Great Finale’
netflix You actor Penn Badgley hinted that the series could end with its season 5.
Although the streaming juggernaut hasn’t announced any updates regarding a possible 5th season of You And if it will be the last, Badgley, 36, who plays Joe Goldberg on the show, suggested there’s still a lot more fans haven’t explored about their book-loving serial killer.
After the explosive end of season 4, the Gossip Girl alum revealed what to expect from his character, Goldberg, next season.
“I know what Greg told me a few years ago that he thought was the right way to end it,” he said. British GQ in a March 14 interview, “If there’s another one, I think it’ll be a grand finale.”
Spoiler: In Season 4 of the show, Joe felt this urge to change as a person, as he tried to kill his bad tendencies, and it’s something Badgley said was a requirement of the show.
“He has to go to this place for five episodes where it’s like, ‘Is he going to become a hero like we all wanted?’ It makes no sense for Joe to become a hero,” he admitted.
“It’s the only place the show could have gone and stayed relevant, stayed accountable, stayed smart, stayed sensitive, but remained true.”
Badgley further added, “It’s all been built to see Joe in a different light, really, which we’ve never done before.”
The latest episodes of You which was released on March 9, introduced a new side to Joe’s character.
Sera Gamble, co-creator of You recently teased that fans would see an even “more dangerous” side to Joe.
“We spent 4 seasons building these characters who are violently wealthy, but not all of them are as smart or as ruthless,” she previously explained to E ! News.
“If Joe is all he is and now has unlimited resources and access, he’s become the thing he envied and judged from afar. It gives us a lot of new opportunities,” he said. she adds.
