Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Receive Heartbreaking News Ahead of ‘Spare’ Release

Los Angeles: The star-studded California city home to Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle was ordered to evacuate on Monday, with firefighters warning mudslides could engulf luxury homes.

Montecito, which is also a favorite of American entertainment royalty like Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Aniston, was expected to receive up to 20 centimeters of rain in 24 hours – on hills already soggy from weeks of downpours.

Emergency authorities in the city 90 minutes from Los Angeles said anyone in the area should get out.

“LEAVE NOW! This is a rapidly evolving situation. Please pay close attention to emergency alerts,” a fire department website said.

The city, whose multimillion-dollar properties are perched in breathtaking California countryside, is particularly vulnerable to landslides as it sits at the foot of a mountain range that was ravaged by a fire there. five years old.

Hundreds of square miles (kilometres) of land were scorched in 2017 and 2018, stripping hillsides of the vegetation that normally holds the ground in place.

Without the trees and shrubs, the rains can quickly become dangerous.

“Over the past 30 days, Montecito has received over 12-20 inches of rain in the community, exceeding our annual average of 17 inches,” Montecito Fire posted on Twitter.

“This cumulative, saturated rain puts the community at increased risk of flooding and debris flow.”

Former chatshow host Ellen DeGeneres posted a video on Twitter of a raging stream.

“It’s crazy,” she told her followers.

“That creek next to our house never flows. It’s probably about nine feet high, and it’s going to go up another two feet.

It was unclear how many townspeople, who also include Larry David, Gwyneth Paltrow, Katie Perry and Rob Lowe, had heeded the call to flee. (AFP)
