Luke Evans shared in a recent interview that he doesn’t think an actor’s sexuality should match that of the character they play. He further added that he wouldn’t have had a career if gay actors only played gay roles, as reported. People.
Luke added that it’s important that the right person gets the part rather than the person with the matching sexuality getting the part. Luke also addressed Russell T. Davies’ view that only gay actors should be allowed to play gay roles.
Disagreeing with Davies’ view, Luke said, “But from my point of view: one, I wouldn’t have had a career if gay people played gay roles and straight guys played straight roles.”
He further added, “I would have played dual roles on the 36 projects I worked on, or whatever. [the number] is.”
Luke Evans is currently in a relationship with Fran Tomas and he has spent most of the year with her boyfriend as the two traveled to Japan earlier in December and they also traveled to Spain for a wedding.
