‘Lord of the Rings’ Reboot Gets Lukewarm Fan Response
The iconic The Lord of the Rings fans of the series weren’t impressed with the new deal between Warner Bros. and New Line to produce more fantasy films.
Earlier, Warner Bros. Discovery big boss David Zaslav revealed the deal during an investors’ call that “several” films based on JRR Tolkien’s books.
The films will be headlined by New Line Cinema, which produced the original trilogy.
However, fans are not thrilled with the news.
“The Lord of the Rings doesn’t have a remake. The Lord of the Rings doesn’t need a remake,” one user tweeted.
“Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies were perfectly good and aren’t particularly old. Basically make it the Simarillion, full length, or don’t bother,” added another.
“I’ll never know how much confidence it would take to watch Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy and think, ‘Yeah, I can follow that,'” journalist Daniel Dockery said.
“The Lord of the Rings is fundamentally about coming to terms with the loss and death of all things known, so I guess it’s terribly hilarious that it’s being vivisected and extruded into endless franchise content for another few decades” , he wrote.
We’re not just making new Lord of the Rings movies,” another commented.
