Lizzo shares her take on ‘cancel culture’: ‘trendy, misused and misdirected’
Lizzo candidly shared her take on cancel culture in her latest social media post.
The Truth hurts The 34-year-old singer took to her Twitter account on a Sunday morning and shared that cancel culture had become “trending”.
Lizzo tweeted, “It might be a random moment to say this but it’s in my heart…cancel culture is appropriation.”
“There was real outrage from really marginalized people and now it’s become fashionable, misused and misdirected,” she added.
Lizzo concluded, “Hopefully we can get that out of the way and focus our outrage on the real issues.”
The About fucking time The singer’s latest tweet comes just days after she addressed body shaming. “I’ve seen comments from, ‘Oh my God, I loved you when you were thick. Why did you lose weight?’ ‘Oh my God, why did you get a BBL? I loved your body before. ‘Oh my God, you’re so tall. You need to lose weight but for your health’ to ‘Oh my God, you’re so small. ‘Oh my God, why did she do all this work? It’s too much work,” she said in a TikTok video on Friday.
Lizzo continued, “Is it okay? Do you see the illusion? Do you realize artists aren’t there to fit your beauty standards? Artists are there to make art. And this body is art. I will do what I want with this body. I wish the comments cost you money so we can see how long we are [expletive] waste on the wrong thing. Can we leave this [expletive] over there, please? »
