Judd Apatow’s ‘slapgate’ tweet goes viral again
Judd Apatow’s controversial take on the Will Smith slapgate controversy resurfaced in the midst of the 2023 Oscars.
After the King Richard attacked Chris Rock, Smith tweeted: “He could have killed him. This is pure rage and uncontrollable violence. They’ve heard a million jokes about them over the last three decades. They’re not freshmen in the world of Hollywood and comedy. He lost his mind.”
It’s 40 the director, however, quickly deleted the tweet. But he has been criticized for his tough stance on the controversy.
In a second deleted tweet, the 55-year-old said: “Looks like Will Smith’s plan to get comedians and the world to not make jokes about him isn’t going to come to fruition. The Williams family must be furious .Sheer narcissism.”
Nonetheless, the filmmaker is coming under fire for the near-anniversary of his controversial tweets.
“It’s been a year, and still the funniest thing anyone has said about it,” one user commented.
“Judd you know it wasn’t so bad,” another chimed in.
