Jason Segel, who tried goofy, affable, and overall nice guy Marshall Eriksen on how I Met Your Motherrevealed he was set to reprise his role in the spin-off series.
Segel starred on the CBS sitcom for nine seasons. When the actor was asked about appearing in the series spin-off, How I met your father, he responded optimistically.
“These people changed my life,” he said. entertainment tonight. “I would do whatever they asked me to do.”
Segel would not be the first how I Met Your Mother star to make the jump between series. Cobie Smulders appeared in the Season 1 finale of how i met your fatherwhile Neil Patrick Harris just made a very legendary surprise appearance in the Season 2 premiere earlier this week.
The HIMYF showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger have previously said Weekly entertainment that they planned “plots for all original characters” on the show, including Segel.
“Now it’s just a matter of analyzing them and hoping that people are available and want to do it when it’s the right time to ask,” Berger said. “But yeah, we think it’s so much fun, and it makes our world bigger, and it satisfies the fans on a very deep level, so we love doing it and we have the ideas.”
