Succession Actor Brian Cox has claimed Meghan Markle “knew what she was getting into” when she married Prince Harry.
In an interview with a High life in New York Posted on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the 76-year-old actor said the Duchess of Sussex “clearly” had “ambitions” to join the Royal Family ahead of marrying Prince Harry in 2018, via Page 6.
He alleged that Meghan had “childhood dreams of marrying Prince Charming”.
Meghan reportedly said she didn’t know much about the British monarchy or the royal family before meeting her husband Prince Harry.
The actor began to analyze the British monarchy as he spoke about his HBO series about the Logan family known to control the biggest media and entertainment company in the world.
Cox noted that the former Combinations The 41-year-old actress shouldn’t be surprised at the drama she and Harry, 38, created by leaving the royal family.
“You can’t walk into a system where someone has already been trained to behave a certain way and expect them to cut themselves off,” he explained.
“I mean, she knew what she was getting into, and there’s clearly ambition there too – childhood dreams of marrying Prince Charming and all that shit that we see as fantasy that could be our lives in our dreams. I’m a Cinderella person, you know.
However, Cox added that he would like to see the UK leave the monarchy. “In my opinion, we should not have a monarchy. It’s not sustainable; that does not make any sense. It’s tradition and all that, they say. I say, ‘F–k it! Pass!'”
Previously, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released their Netflix docuseries in December 2022, he defended the couple’s allegations against the Royal Family.
“I don’t think they made it up, I don’t think it’s wrong,” Cox said. “I think it’s true and should have been rectified, and it’s not.”
