Brooke Shields Reflects on Ex Andre Agassi’s Reaction to ‘Friends’ Scene
Brooke Shields’ extreme and very chilling reaction to her then-partner Andre Agassi on her stage with Matt LeBlanc on the hit comedy series Friends.
Shields, who was on the list of some high-profile guest stars, appeared in Friends, reflected on how Agassi reacted to his ‘licking’ scene with co-star LeBlanc in his upcoming documentary Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields.
The actress played Joey Tribbiani’s stalker, Erika, in The One After the Super Bowl: Part 1, of the series.
As she described it, “In the scene, I (Erika) is supposed to lick Joey’s fingers, because those are the hands of a genius, and I want to devour them, and I’m a weirdo. He was cute – he was, like, ‘I washed my hands and they’re all clean.’ I was, like, ‘I had a mint!’
Aside from being a career highlight for the actress, the scene also caused a stir in her relationship with Agassi, who apparently couldn’t stand seeing Shields acting like this with her co-actor.
As she said, “Andre was in the audience supporting me, and he stormed out. He said, ‘Everybody’s laughing at me. You ridiculed me with this behavior. I’m like, “This is comedy! What’s wrong with you?” I found out later that he was addicted to crystal meth at the time, so that irrational behavior I’m sure had something to do with it.”
Previously, in Agassi’s 2009 autobiography, he also spoke about the incident, where he smashed all his tennis trophies, one by one, after returning home from the set of Friends and ripping the walls.
“Of course, I’ve seen Brooke kiss men on stage before. […] This is different. It’s above the line. I don’t pretend to know where the line is, but hand licking is definitely out of date,” he wrote.
The actress has been in the limelight lately for unearthing some great subjects in her powerful new documentary, Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields.
