Ben Affleck admits ‘brilliant’ Jennifer Lopez helped him understand ‘culture and style’
Ben Affleck gushed about his wife, Jennifer Lopez, for helping him figure out fashion and style for his latest film Air.
THE Batman The 50-year-old actor has both directed and starred in the upcoming film, which revolves around the story of Michael Jordan and his partnership with Nike.
Affleck, in his latest interview with The Hollywood Reporter, we asked how J.Lo influenced the script. The actor gushed in response and said, “Oh my god, she’s brilliant.”
THE missing girl The star further added, “She knows incredibly well how fashion evolves across culture as a confluence of music, sport, entertainment and dance.”
“Lopez helped me talk about how part of the reason the Jordans were so meaningful is that the culture and style in America is 90% driven by black culture,” Affleck said at the point of sale.
“Black culture historically pioneered music, dance, fashion, and then it was stolen, appropriated, remarketed as Elvis or whatever. And in this case, [Nike]a corporate entity run by white people, was beginning to do business with African American athletes in identity affiliate selling,” he continued.
Affleck added: “They were really leveraging what Michael Jordan stands for and who he is. I don’t think the meaning can be overstated. They’re going to go from, “Hey guys, we’re a nice shoe” to, “If Mike has it, you want it.”
Besides Affleck, Air stars Matt Damon, Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, Chris Messina and Marlon Wayans. The film will be released in April.
