Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, who were moved from police custody to house arrest following a ruling by a Romanian judge on Friday, broke their social media silence shortly after their release from prison.
In the hours following his release, the 36-year-old tweeted several messages to his millions of followers, but few were particularly cryptic.
The first was simply a smiley face emoji, followed by a second that talked about his next email being sent followed by “God is great”.
In his last tweet, Tate attempted to describe the whole situation in a nutshell, writing, “I win. No tears,” while retweeting a post from February in which he admitted he “almost cried.”
He also shared a video of himself pacing around a room while smoking a cigar, saying, “Since last year I’ve been locked up 24 hours a day. No court time.”
“Packing in a 10-foot cell with no electronics or outside contact. Absolute clarity of mind. Real thoughts. Real plans. Sharp pain. An hour at home and I can’t stand my phone. Some Habits die hard. We must defeat Shaytan.”
Tristan, Andrew’s younger brother, tweeted: “4 months without putting on a pair of alligator shoes. The struggle was real.”
The ruling by the Bucharest Court of Appeal replaced the two brothers’ last period of custody, which was due to end on April 29. Two accomplices, Georgiana Naghel and Luana Radu, were also released.
All four have been ordered to stay in the buildings where they live, unless they have legal permission to leave.
It should be mentioned here that Andrew and Tristan have been detained since December. They are being investigated on allegations of rape, human trafficking and forming an organized crime group. Both have denied wrongdoing. Lawyers for the Tates argued that their continued pre-trial detention was unnecessarily harsh, when other legal options such as house arrest were available.
