Andrea Riseborough Says ‘Hard to Believe’ About Oscar Nomination for To Leslie
Andrea Riseborough has expressed her amazement after being nominated in the Best Actress category for this year’s Oscar.
On Tuesday, Andrea would have been selected for the first film of Michael Morris To Lesliea film which shows Andrea as a “West Texas single mother who won and squandered $190,000 (£154,000) in a local lottery”.
It is pertinent to mention that high-profile celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow started supporting Andrea’s performance on social media before the Oscar nomination.
A few critics felt it earned the actress “recognition” from the Oscars.
Sharing the reaction to her appointment, Andrea said Deadline“I am amazed.”
“I don’t know exactly how it happened,” the 41-year-old continued.
Andrea said: “It’s such an unexpected ray of light. It was so hard to believe this could ever happen because we really hadn’t been in contention for anything else.
“Even though we had a lot of support, the idea that this could happen seemed so far away,” she added.
Besides Andrea, other actresses, who were nominated in the Best Actress category at the upcoming 95th Academy Awards, included Cate Blanchett (Tar), Ana de Armas (Blond), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) and Michelle Yeoh (Everything everywhere all at once).
